Antique Victorian English Walnut Pendant Charm Mechanical Stanhope Pencil

Antique Victorian Stanhope pencil in the form of an English walnut. Such pencils were most often worn on chains as a necklace so the wearer always had something with which they could scribe. The top of the walnut has a stanhope peep with six magnified microscopic views of Lugano Switzerland. It is a two stage mechanical propelling pencil. When you turn the wooden body of the acorn while holding the spherical top, a retractable pencil tip glides out. When you then twist the pencil tip, the lead advances out and you are ready to write. Both of these functions work with excellence and turn smoothly with little effort or resistance. It still has it's lead as well. This antique pendant pencil is in impeccable condition with only light patina to the silver finish, and minor wear from handling.
