Pepper-box Pistol Flintlock Revolver Paperweight with Stanhope View Gettysburg, PA

Very nice condition circa 1870's antique Paperweight tourist souvenir is a figural Pepperbox Flintlock Firearm. This pepperbox pistol is made of lead that was likely left over or collected from the Battlefield at Gettysburg after the battle. It's condition is immaculate and shows signs of infrequent handling and a slight patina due to oxidation. Most Gettysburg souvenirs were made of lead, the most popular of those are certainly the Bullet stanhopes made from collected fired and un-fired projectiles. The stanhope in this sidepiece shows a clear multi-view depicting five scenes of Gettysburg, all relating to places of significance during the battle. The image titles are listed below. The stanhope is interesting because even though the majority of Gettysburg souvenir stanhopes are 5 view stanhopes, I don't believe we have ever had one with this particular layout or selection of images. It probably isn't a unique piece and there may be others like it, but this is the only stanhope pepper box we have ever seen and consider it rare. It came from the estate of a very scrutinizing collector in the New England Area who was likely the first to collect stanhopes at all.
