Antique Carved Wood Stanhope Swiss Thimble Case Pecan Nut Figural

This nice antique 19th century (circa 1890) wooden thimble case is about 2" x 1 3/8" round. It is hand carved into the shape of a pecan nut hanging on a tree branch. It is in excellent condition and opens in two parts to reveal the majestic colored purple felt covered thimble rack or peg use to keep the thimble secure and safe. The felt interior is a bit dusty and the outside has some "dirt" from handling, but it really just adds up to "patina" for an object like this. The Stanhope shows a clear single image microphoto of part of the Swiss Alps mountain range and Hotel and lake with sailboats. The image depicts Fluelen Switzerland on Lake Lucerne. The image is simply titled "FLUELEN". Fluelen is often called "The most beautiful small town in Switzerland". This is a great piece to collect or to use to safely store your favorite thimble.
