Ornamented Early Mechanical Stanhope Pencil

Ornate and handsomly designed, this is a very fine mechanical, or propelling, pencil. The handle is machined brass with a black enamel design. A stanhope lens is in a brass tube near the end and a 7mm round amber rhinestone caps the end. It is 2 1/2" long, fully functional, and in very good condition (with a little wear of enamel due to use). Inside the lens is a microphotograph of 6 different pictures, with titles, of Gourock in Ashton magnified clearly (minor bubbling has occured over time).
