This original stanhope civil war commemorative bullet shows 5 views of Gettysburg, PA. After the war, some of the left over bullets were used to make stanhope bullets that were sold to tourists as souvenirs. Generally such stanhope bullets were of the 54 - 58 cal. type with a rounded point or nose, but this one is a much harder to find musket ball variation. Most also contained 3 views rather than the 5 views found in this example. This view is titled GETTYSBURG PA at the top of the view and MADE IN FRANCE is along the right side. The 5 images are separately titled:

     SOLDIERS Mt. IN NATIONAL CEMETERY
     VIRGINIA STATE MEMORIAL

This artifact is 100% original condition and was made in the late 1800's. It has a lot of character and nice patina and is an excellent example of a rare stanhope bullet. Great for civil war collectors and enthusiasts.
