New York City.
Dear Sir:-
I have your letter of the 15th, in
which you inform me that you desire to put 50 doz. Of the four-blade flat
enameled ladies knife in work and 50 doz. of the enameled corkscrew knife
with our flag on one side. Then you say you should be pleased to make 100
doz. of the metal knife with crown cork opener instead of wire cutter, all
knives to have my photo, i.e. the cork screw knives. I have no objections to
your filling such an order, but would like to receive samples of each before
you execute it entirely. Don’t you think that would be better; than if there
is anything I do not like about the knives, it can be changed and remedied
before the whole order goes into work. You might send me a dozen of each as
a sample.
Don’t forget that you lost that bet regarding the landing of
the ship at the dock, and tell your son that you were wrong this time, so he
does not think his father is infallible.
With kind regards, I am
Very truly yours
